Sonny Randhawa joined the Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB) as Chief Executive Officer on March 2, 2026, bringing more than 25 years of experience in audit quality, regulatory oversight, and advancing public interest outcomes. He has built a career grounded in strengthening confidence in capital markets through rigorous oversight, transparent practices, and collaborative stakeholder engagement.

Prior to CPAB, Sonny served as Executive Vice President at the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC), Canada’s largest capital markets regulator. In this role, he provided executive leadership for more than 280 professionals across four regulatory divisions, with responsibility for strategic planning and performance management, enterprise risk, and day to day regulatory operations. Earlier, as Senior Vice President and Director of the Corporate Finance division of the OSC, he led teams overseeing the regulatory compliance for more than 1,200 public companies in Ontario. He regularly engaged with boards, ministries, and international counterparts to support effective oversight, reduce regulatory burden, where appropriate, and strengthen confidence in Ontario’s capital markets.

Sonny’s experience spans policy development, complex market oversight files, and extensive cross border engagement with organizations including the SEC, FINRA, FCA, FSB, ISSB/CSSB, CPA bodies across Canada, and senior leaders at global public accounting firms.

He holds CPA, CA and CPA (Illinois) designations. Sonny lives in Toronto with his wife and three sons.
